The Unit of one amlang is also in use in British Malaya (Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States) and Java, where it is designated as a "tamil" or "ael", with a weight of a little over 38 grams. In Siam this weight has been adjusted to correspond to the weight of 10 salungs or 21⁄2 ticals = 37.5 grams. One tamlung is divided into 100 hoons.

In Burma one, tola-10 grame approximately. In Formosa 1 monime=4 grams approximtely.
